Performance times are 8:00 PM on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturday evenings with 2:00 PM matinee performances on Sunday. The Silver Meteor Gallery is located at 2213 East 6th Avenue, Ybor City, with street parking and nearby lots available.
About Bibo and Bertie: In 1954, the most famous man in the world at the time--Albert Einstein--celebrates his 75th birthday. He knows that death is not far off, so he is caught between a desperate struggle to complete his life's work: the unified field theory, "the theory of everything;" and his overwhelming desire to find peace of mind, to lay down his burdens of guilt over the nuclear arms race and his lifelong string of failed relationships. On his birthday, an unusual gift arrives: Bibo, an African grey parrot, who ultimately teaches him the lesson he needs most--how to love.
Directed by Julia Smith and starring Lab Theater’s founder and executive director Owen Robertson as well as Lynne Locher, Pete Clapsis, Jakob Nordstrom and Shannon Ungerer.
Bibo and Bertie is the second show in Lab’s third season, a season dedicated to exploring what it means to get older, the value our citizens still have as they get older and the challenges that they face getting older in America.
The Tampa-based Lab Theater Project is a company focused on two fronts: the development of new works and the education of theater artists, both new and experienced. Lab’s focus on new playwrights stems from Mr. Robertson’s belief that “the path for new work is riddled with traps that prevent and discourage the new playwright; I aim to change that. Playwright’s begin with a vision and often their vision can be lost in the process. Lab is dedicated to putting the playwright first in the process and honoring their vision of their work.”
